    Mirando la esfera pública desde la cultura en el Perú
    (Consejo Nacional de Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación Tecnológica - Concytec, 2006-12)
    Cánepa Koch, Gisela
    ;
    Ulfe Young, Maria Eugenia
    Congrega una serie de trabajos en torno a prácticas culturales diversas con el objetivo de problematizar los mecanismos, los discursos y los actores que a través de ellas tienen injerencia en la esfera pública contemporánea. La mayoría de los trabajos incluidos en la publicación se presentó por primera vez en la mesa temática Cultura y esfera pública que organizamos en el marco del IV Congreso Nacional de Antropología, realizado en el año 2005 en la ciudad de Lima. Para fines de la presente publicación se incluyeron algunos trabajos más, cuyos autores fueron convocados a participar con el fin de agrupar un conjunto mayor de iniciativas de investigación que comparten el interés por discutir las dimensiones políticas de la cultura, así como de abarcar –aunque no de manera exhaustiva–una mayor variedad de expresiones culturales que configuran una emergente cultura pública.

    Novel carrageenan micro- and nanogels were developed via a sonication-assisted microemulsion processing route. The diameter of the dry samples ranged 197.3 −421.35 nm whereas the diameter of the samples suspended in water ranged 467.8–605.9 nm. Hybrid κ/ι-carrageenan, rather than κ- or ι-carrageenan was used for the first time for the preparation of micro- and nanogels. KCl was used as a cross-linking agent and Tween 80 was used as surfactant. The micro- and nanogels suspended in water were found to simultaneously exhibit a lower diameter, and a lower swelling ratio with higher Tween 80 content. The micro- and nanogel suspension yields a zeta potential value of −50.5 mV, superior to values reported elsewhere for pure κ- or ι-carrageenan micro- and nanogels. The high stability was attributed to the high hydrophile-lipophile balance (HLB = 15) value of Tween 80. These results suggest that hybrid κ/ι-carrageenan micro- and nanogels are promising candidates for smart therapeutics applications. © The Author(s) 2020.

    Since nomenclature is intended to reflect the evolutionary history of organisms, advances in our understanding of historical relationships may lead to changes in classification, and thus potentially in taxonomic instability. An unstable nomenclature for medically important animals like venomous snakes is of concern, and its implications in venom/antivenom research and snakebite treatment have been extensively discussed since the 90´s.

    Hydrodynamic cavitation (HC) was adopted to assist alkaline-hydrogen peroxide pretreatment of sugarcane bagasse (SCB). In the following condition: 0.29 M of NaOH, 0.78% (v/v) of H2O2, 9.95 min of process time and 3 bar of inlet pressure, 95.4% of digestibility of cellulosic fraction was achieved. To take the best use of the pretreated biomass, the overall process was intensified by way of employing a packed bed flow-through column reactor and thus enabling to handle a high solid loading of 20%, thereby leading to cellulose and hemicellulose conversions to 74.7% and 75%, respectively. In the fermentation step, a bubble column reactor was introduced to maximize ethanol production from the pretreated SCB by Scheffersomyces stipitis NRRL-Y7124, resulting in 31.50 g/L of ethanol, 0.49 g/g of ethanol yield and 0.68 g/L.h of productivity. All this showed that our HC-assisted NaOH-H2O2 pretreatment strategy along with the process intensification approach might offer an option for SCB-based biorefineries.
